Conservation organisations

Here is a list of organisations who are doing outstanding work for primate conservation. Listed here are a variety, some are rehabilitation focused and others conduct scientific research and conservation. All are organisations we gladly support and are happy to recommend to people looking for orgs to donate to.

*Please note: all of the organisations mentioned here are my personal selections of organisations who's work benefit primate conservation and observe good practice re: primate imagery. Please do your own research before deciding whether to donate or not.

The Animal Neighbours project is a community based project that uses research and education to mitigate human wildlife conflict in urban areas.

​

Ape Action Africa is a wildlife conservation organisation working Cameroon, Central Africa. They rescue and rehabilitate primates from the illegal pet trade and work with communities to develop long-term solutions to ensure wild primate survival.

​

Borneo Nature Foundation are a not-for-profit wildlife and biodiversity conservation and research organization that protects and safeguards tropical rainforests and the environment in Borneo.

​

Colobus Conservation is a not-for-profit organization working to support, promote and advocate forest conservation to ensure the long-term survival of the Angolan black and white colobus monkey and other primates on the South Coast of Kenya.

​

Douc Langur Foundation is a nonprofit conservation, research and education organization dedicated to protecting the Douc Langur monkey and their wild habitat to ensure that they will survive in their home ranges for future generations.

​

Endangered Asian Species Trust (EAST) helps conserve Asia's endangered wildlife by tackling the illegal wildlife trade, engaging communities through conservation education, and encouraging responsible tourism.​

​

Fundacion Mona rescue abused primates, rehabilitate them, contribute towards behavioural research and raise awareness.

​

Gibbon Conservation Society is a Malaysian NGO who support gibbon rehabilitation and raise awareness about these endangered small apes.

​

The Lemur Conservation Network (LCN) unites and supports over 60 conservation organizations and connects them with people around the world.

​

Limbe Wildlife Centre rescue and rehabilitation wildlife, employ educational initiatives and community programmes, and are working to conserve Cameroon’s unique wildlife heritage.

​

The Little Fireface Project (LFP) studies the ecology of the slow and slender lorises, and contributes wherever possible to the conservation and ecology of loris species throughout their range.

​

The Long-tailed macaque project are an international initiative, collaboration, and a registered charity aiming to raise awareness about and conserve endangered long-tailed macaque populations in South and Southeast Asia.

​

Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership is a Malagasy NGO working to save Madagascar's forests and wildlife through research, education, and outreach.

​

Mikajy Natiora works to protect Madagascar’s endemic biodiversity by combining ecological research and local community involvement.

​

Neotropical Primate Conservation (NPC) is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation of primates and their habitats in South and Central America. 

​

PASA brings together a unique coalition of primate sanctuaries and wildlife centers, NGO partners, experts, and compassionate supporters to protect African great apes.

​

Prime Earth/Gibbon Guardians are a global movement to protect and conserved wild gibbons, support sanctuaries, and protect habitat. 

​

Proyecto Tití is a multi-disciplinary on-site conservation program that combines field research, education initiatives and community programs to make the conservation feasible for local communities in Colombia. 

​

SEED Madagascar are working towards sustainable, environment, education and development goals across southeast Madagascar. 

​

Selamatkan Yaki is a research, conservation and education programme focused on protecting the Sulawesi crested black macaques and their habitat.

​

The Drill Project is filming, collecting data and providing protection for the drill monkey on Bioko Island. 

​

WAPCA is a NGO working in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire to preserve and protect the threatened primates of West Africa through community empowerment, research, education and reserve breeding.

​

Wild Futures is a UK primate welfare and conservation charity rescuing, campaigning, educating and providing sanctuary to primates in need.
